* Phaseolamine 2250, also called Phase 2™, is a group of compounds derived from the white kidney bean. During normal digestion the body converts all the starch from starchy foods (potatoes, pastas, breads, corn, etc.) into sugar through the action of an enzyme called alpha amylase. This sugar is saved, some as glycogen, but most is converted into new fat and stored in fat cells. Phaseolamine 2250 is the first natural substance clinically proven to neutralize the alpha amylase conversion of starch into sugar, preventing production of new fat. The undigested starch simply leaves the body in the stool, because it cannot be absorbed. Clinical and experimental studies indicate that Phaseolamine 2250 reduces absorption of up to about 85% of the starch consumed at a regular meal, most of which would have been converted into new fat in the liver.
