Compare Prices > Media > ONE IN TWO BRITS CAN’T AFFORD MONTHLY BILLSMore than half the population (52%) have had to raid their savings to pay everyday household bills – and it is the over 50’s that are bearing the brunt of recent cost of living price hikes – according to research from money saving site Savebuckets.com. The new research quantifies the extent to which rising living costs - such as food, heating, fuel, utility bills and council tax – have impacted the average household budget and suggests that, for the majority of UK families, pay packets are not stretching far enough to cover monthly bills. Savebuckets.com asked more than 2,000 people across the UK how they had met the many rising costs of living so far in 2008.
